The body of work ‘Slash and Burn’ is concerned with deforestation, its cause and effects.

 

The artwork explores the concerns of deforestation and its connection to animals under the threat of extinction.

 

These threats of extinction caused by deforestation of native habitats are due to two main reasons urban sprawl and agriculture.

 

‘Slash and Burn’ presents images of the animals in which are under threat of extinction and contrast them with the products that are results of the deforestation.

 

The images are engraved into numerous cross sections of a log of wood heightening the emphasis on the issue and confronting the audience with their unknown and unavoidable relationship to the issue at hand.
